Summer means lots of things: sunshine, holidays, ice cream, buckets and spades at the beach and, one of my favourites, carnival time. And this week was carnival week in Teignmouth culminating in the procession of floats through town on Thursday night.
And, more excitingly for me, one of my best friends from university is down visiting at the moment, so we were able to meet up with her family for a long overdue catch up.
I love this photo because it reminds me of a picture taken of me when I was a similar age, sat on the side of the road with my sisters and cousins when we were on holiday in Fowey, Cornwall, waiting for a carnival procession.
This photo features Elliot, looking really happy (we were on the pavement next to his friend from school), Beatrix excitedly pointing down the road to where the procession would come, Wilfred, who has been hiding from most attempts at photography all summer, trying to decide whether to do a runner or not, and my friend's daughter full of anticipation.
Carnivals really are the stuff of summer memories.
I do love a good carnival...you know it's summer! #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an annual tradition for us. We can't wait for Dawlish Carnival in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been to a carnival in ages but I know its done very well in the West COUntry! Great pic. #MySUndayPhoto
ReplyDeleteThanks. One of the bonuses of living in a fairly small town is looking out for people we know in the procession.
DeleteTeignmouth is a beautiful place. I really like this shot - full of childhood memories :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's a great town, especially in the lovely weather we've enjoyed lately.
DeleteFab photo! I hope you had a great time x
ReplyDeleteYes, we really enjoyed it. The work that goes into some of the floats is amazing.

ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant, free entertainment and reminds you what a wonderful community we live in.
DeleteLovely photo. I always think that hloidays and summer in the UK does remind you of summers f old. They dont seem to change over time
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. It feels like proper, wholesome fun. It just makes you think of Enid Blyton and lashings and lashings of ginger beer.
DeleteOoohhh looks like a lovely day for carnival and love their expressions here! #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteLove this, it's such a perfect childhood moment isn't it, the anticipation!
